Join the World Swing Dance Council’s Executive Board!

The World Swing Dance Council (WSDC) is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals with experience in the West Coast Swing community to apply for a position on our Executive Board. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to contribute to the future of swing dance at an international level.

Position: Executive Board Member

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Board members to guide strategic planning and long-term vision for the WSDC.
• Lead and participate in operational and logistical tasks
• Utilize a wide network of dance community connections to support the mission of the WSDC.
• Bring diverse perspectives to the table, contributing to inclusive decision-making.
• Communicate effectively with the Board and community stakeholders.
• Work as a team player with other Board members to ensure smooth operations.
• Analyze and understand budgets, ensuring fiscal health and accountability.
• Provide leadership in various committees and initiatives.
• Undertake administrative tasks related to Board activities as requested.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in the West Coast Swing dance community.

• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

• Proven ability in strategic planning, problem-solving, and long-range thinking.

• Experience with operational logistics, budgets, and analytics.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

• Administrative experience is a plus.

Position Details:

• Type: Unpaid Volunteer Position

• Commitment:

  • Attend three two-day in-person meetings per year in the USA (expenses covered up to a set budget; remote attendance supported).

  • Attend two general meetings annually, in person or remote.

  • Participate in monthly Zoom meetings (currently on the second Tuesday of each month, 1-4pm EST).

  • Approximately 10-15 additional hours per month, to include committee work and operational tasks.

  • Board members serve a 3-year, twice-renewable term.
